Tell us a little bit about yourself and your journey as an Entrepreneur.
I came to Canada in 2010 as an international student at Niagara College in Welland, Ontario. Here, I graduated in Electronics Engineering and worked for a Telecommunication company.
Before I started selling on Amazon in 2015, I started an electronics startup in streaming media boxes that I sold to my partner.
Selling online has always been very intriguing to me. At that time, not a lot of people were selling on Amazon, I always took pride in helping and teaching others.
I was an active seller on Amazon and used to conduct Meetups as a training program for people with similar interests. As more and more people started joining my seminars, some of them approached me for guidance about how they can improve their listings, or what strategies they could implement to achieve more sales. First, I used to refer them to different experts but later it struck my mind how I can open an agency that can provide similar services from one platform. Initially, I used to get clients and get their work done by outsourcing. In 2017, I decided to start an agency that helps Amazon sellers and now we have become a one-stop-shop for listing optimization.
How do you manage yourself and keep on going despite the challenges?
I try to keep my email inbox organized and my assistant helps me manage my daily admin tasks. Challenges are a part of life and business. This is something we need to embrace and keep going. Challenges are positive signs of your growth. If you do not face any challenges that means you are not growing.
How did you come up with the name for your business/startup?
As an organization, we wanted to become one stop shop for Amazon sellers and get them one step closer to their success on Amazon. This was the idea behind the name, AMZ One Step.
What difficulties you have faced or you are facing?
Hiring top talent is always a challenge and we take pride in the quality of our service, so we want to make sure that our team is highly skilled.
What keeps you going?
I have a mission to open studios in different parts of the world so that Amazon sellers do not have to ship overseas to get their products photography done. We want to make it local for all sellers. This is what keeps me going.
Tell me about an accomplishment you are most proud of.
I am proud of a lot of things but the thing I am most proud of is having studios in four countries. It was not as big of a deal but this is something which I feel happy about.
How many hours a day do you work on average & can you describe/outline your typical day?
I used to do 10+ hours in a day and 7 days a week. Now I am trying to manage my time more efficiently and working less than 10 hours a day and sometimes on weekends. Usually, I get up around 8 in the morning, I go to the gym, prepare breakfast and come to the office and spend the rest of my day at home with my family, friends and work from home if needed.
What are your strengths and weaknesses?
I think hard work and always looking for areas of improvement are my strengths. I can probably improve a lot on public speaking communication skills. I do this from time to time, so a good idea for me is to focus here.
What advice would you give to someone starting out as an aspiring Entrepreneur?
Just start and keep seeking advice along the way. It always sucks when you are trying something for the first time but I am sure you will get through it if you believe in the process and yourself. Just do not quit and keep learning.
